THE FIRST STATION
Jesus is condemned to death

V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Weakened by your agony in the Garden, by the scouring at the pillar and by a night of torture, Jesus, You offer your life to your Father.
I contemplate You as You stand facing Pilate who condemns You to death. The crowd yells: "Let him be crucified!" I know that the sins of the whole world and my own sins are the cause of your death.
We owe You everything we have. As for myself, there is so much I have received from You. I have neglected the talents You have entrusted to my care. I have often ignored your love for me. I cannot wash my hands as if I were innocent. I am involved in your Passion (Mt 27,24).
In your goodness, Jesus, forgive me.

Our Father…Hail Mary… Glory be to the Father…

V. - Have mercy on us, O Lord.
R. - Have mercy on us.
V. - May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
R. - Amen.
Hymn: - I place all my trust in You, my God. All my hope is in your saving Word

THE SECOND STATION
Jesus accepts His cross
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Jesus, You carry your cross. With courage. With generosity. With love. This is your Hour, the Hour your salvation for all mankind. Jesus, as I look at You with sorrow, I see the soldiers mocking You as they place a heavy cross on your lacerated shoulders. They will say: "He saved others; he cannot save himself" (Mt 27,42).
Jesus, the cross You carry is the weight of all human sins. It is the load of my sins…
All my hope is in your saving Word.

THE THIRD STATION
Jesus falls the first time

   V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
You fall, dear Jesus, under the weight of our sins. As I look at You, I pray that my look increase my sorrow for all the sins of my life.
I may have committed grave sins: I beg You to forgive me. I also ask You to forgive all the venial sins, which are offenses against your love.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

THE FOURTH STATION
Jesus meets His mother

V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.

As You trudge along painfully, Jesus, You meet your Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. During long moments, you stare at each other, silent with sadness and love. You suffer, dear Lord, at the sight of this woman You love so much, your Mother, the Immaculate, the masterpiece of creation. And she, Mary, endures so much pain, as she stands there sorrowful, powerless to help You. She participates in your redemption.

    THE FIFTH STATION
Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus

  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry His cross. Jesus, our Creator and God Almighty, needs help… He can no longer walk under the weight of the cross. He is too weak. The cross is too heavy. Jesus is humbled and the crowd jeers and laughs at Him.
As for Simon, he comes close to Jesus, closer than every- body else, as he carries the cross of Jesus… We too are close to Jesus when we are charitable.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

  THE SIXTH STATION
Jesus is consoled by Veronica
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Veronica does not hesitate. Without human respect, she moves out of the crowd in spite of mockeries and scorn. She approaches Jesus and she wipes His face with a cloth. Jesus looks at her with gratitude and rewards her by imprinting His face clearly on the white cloth.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

  THE SEVENTH STATION
Jesus falls a second time
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Jesus falls a second time… His weakness is extreme and He suffers acutely. His second fall reminds me that I must not fall back into sin, especially grave sin. Jesus expiates our evil habits.
He stands again and moves forward, inviting us to live from now on as children of God. The commandments of the Lord are the only road to happiness and salvation.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

  THE EIGHTH STATION
Jesus consoles the holy Women of Jerusalem
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
I admire You, Jesus. In spite of your most painful suffer- ings, in spite of your extreme weakness, You worry about other people and You want to help them. You meet these holy Women on the road to Calvary. They weep… You tell them not to cry over You, but to weep for themselves and for their children.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

   THE NINTH STATION
Jesus falls a third time
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Jesus becomes weaker and weaker. He stumbles and walks along with great pain. He falls a third time. Because of our sins, the sins of a multitude of men and women, young and older! Because of our frequent relapses! He falls and He expiates in His body our lack of fidelity.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

  THE TENTH STATION
Jesus is stripped of His clothes
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
You lived, Jesus, in dire poverty. Born in a stable, You have worked with your hands as a carpenter. You had "nowhere to lay your head" (Mt 8,20). Now, as You reach Mount Golgotha, You are even stripped of your garments. Soldiers tear them off and brutally open all the wounds of your sacred body.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

   THE ELEVENTH STATION
Jesus is nailed to the Cross
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
You are nailed to the Cross, my Jesus. You hang between Heaven and Earth. You are our Mediator, our High Priest, and our Redeemer. You intercede for us as You offer God your Father the torment You endure. You are the living Host, the blameless Victim, and the sacrificed Lamb meek and humble.
Your blood trickles on the earth. You thirst for our love (Jn 19,28).
All my hope is in your saving Word.

   THE TWELFTH STATION
Jesus dies upon the Cross

V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
"They have pierced my hands and my feet…" Jesus could exclaim (Ps 22,17).

This is the supreme moment of human history. Jesus, Son of God, dies on the Cross, freely, out of love, to save us. By His death and resurrection, He destroys the reign of sin and the empire of death. He says:"Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are doing". He opens for us the door leading to real life, to life eternal. He becomes the Firstborn of those who enter a life that will have no end.
All my hope is in your saving Word.

   THE THIRTEENTH STATION
Jesus is laid in the arms of His Mother
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
The sight of your beloved Mother holding You inspires love and pity. I am saddened to see her deep in sorrow as she receives You in her arms. Could there be greater pain that the pain of a mother embracing her only child tortured and put to death? The heart of Mary, as prophesied by Symeon, is pierced with a sword (Lk 2,35).
All my hope is in your saving Word.

  THE FOURTEENTH STATION
Jesus is laid in the tomb
  V. - We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You.
R. - Because, by your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.
Jesus is laid in the tomb. His life seems to be a complete failure. Apparently, this is the end of the Good News He preached. Like the two disciples of Emmaus, many go away sad and give up hope. Jesus, the great Prophet, is dead…
All my hope is in your saving Word.
